Awesome and Easy Pirate Party Invitations

Heyyyy everybody! So my oldest munchkin Carleigh is turning 5 this month and she wanted a Pirate Party! I should have seen this coming considering for the past 2 years she has been a pirate for Halloween. She's really into Disney Jr. and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. It took me a while to decide what type of invites I wanted to do; every year we do cool invitations. This is what we came up with and I LOVEEEEE the way they turned out. An extra bonus is they were very easy to create!

1st.

I got my ideas together and made my way to Michael's craft store for the bottles. I saw how some parents used water bottles or even Yoo-hoo bottles, but I wanted to have that "message in a bottle" looking bottle :o) I found these plastic bottles that came 6 in a pack at Michaels. The best part was the bottom popped open making it extremly easy to add the invite, sand and shells.

2nd.

I created the invite on Microsoft Word (the things I can create on Word are amazing, but I'm self teaching myself Photoshop). The fonts I used were Jellyka Delicious Cake, The King_Queen Font, and Rapscallion.

3rd.

I printed the invite out on ivory Parchment paper I had, but i'm sure regular white paper would have worked just fine as well.

4th.

I boiled a few a lot of tea bags in a pot. At first I used the tea bags and dabbed the paper to get the aged look, then I just placed the entire paper in the water and that worked faster. I even added some coffee I had left over to darken the stains.

5th.

You could either let each sheet of paper dry, but i'm impatient so I placed them in the oven directly on the racks for about 2 minutes and they dried quickly. Make sure to keep an eye on them so you don't burn down your house.

6th.

To create a more dramatic aged look I burnt the edges with a lighter. Again please don't burn your house down :o)

7th.

I rolled each invitation up like a scroll. I forgot to purchase twine at Michael's so I used this tri-colored yarn that sort of resembles twine I had at the house.

8th.

Finally I placed the rolled invitation into the bottle, add the sea shells then the sand.

Everyone just raved about these lil suckers and I love the way they turned out!

**Tip** If you are mailing these I would suggest buying the Plastic Bubble Mailer envelopes and then taking them to the post office for postage. I was in a rush to get them mailed off before the post office closed and totally forgot, and that cost me a bunch of Pirate Booty, arrrrrrgghhhh (I know it was corny but  I had to do it!)
